Furnishings & sourcing
Furnishings & sourcing is a service for deciding what goes into your space, making sure it all works together, and getting those items for you. Whether you’re starting from scratch or working with an existing interior, Ndani brings together furniture, materials and finishing details to suit your taste, needs and budget. You approve the choices; we find the suppliers and handle the ordering.
Let’s walk through it using a living room.
We select what goes into your room.
You might need a sofa, upholstery fabric, a rug, lamps, cushions and artwork. You might also have furniture you want to keep.
There are lots of individual decisions: Which fabric? What colour? Which rug works with it? What lighting and artwork suit the room?
You don’t need to have all the answers. We start with your taste, how you use the room and what you want to spend.
We bring the choices together for you.
We select the fabrics and pieces around your room, how you use it and your budget. We present them together so you can review how the rug, upholstery, lights and artwork relate to one another.
This is what “furnishings” means here: the furniture, textiles, lighting and decorative objects that furnish the interior.
“Materials” refers to what those things are made from—for example, the upholstery fabric. Our broader work also includes advice on other interior materials and finishes.
Sometimes we design an original fabric for the project.
Usually, selecting a fabric means choosing an existing one. We can also develop a new pattern.
At Mara Siana, for example, we designed an acacia-patterned fabric that was printed locally and used for cushions and bed covers.
That is fabric design. Designing the actual sofa frame or a fitted wardrobe belongs under Bespoke Furniture & Joinery.
You approve the choices. We place the orders.
We present the proposed items and material samples for you to review. You decide which selections to approve before we order.
We find the suppliers or makers who can provide the selected items. That is “sourcing”. We then place the approved orders for you.
We do the selecting, sourcing and ordering. Your taste guides the choices, and you approve what goes into your interior.
Fabrics & textiles
We select and source fabrics for upholstery, cushions and bed covers, considering colour, texture and how each fabric will be used. We can also develop an original fabric pattern for your project.
Furniture & rugs
We select and source furniture and rugs that suit your room and work with any pieces you want to keep. We consider their size, materials and colours together, so you can see how the choices fit into the interior.
Lighting
We select and source lamps and decorative light fittings that suit your room and how you use it. We consider their size, materials and position alongside the furniture and fabrics.
Art & finishing touches
We select and source artwork, woven baskets and decorative objects for your interior. We consider their scale, colours and placement alongside the rest of the room.
Before we begin.
A few practical questions about your furnishings, budget and orders.
Ask about your projectCan you help furnish an existing room?
Furnishings can be considered alongside the pieces and finishes already in place. Tell us about the room, what you want to retain and what feels missing. We can discuss the scope for furniture, fabrics, rugs, lighting or decorative pieces.
Do you source locally made pieces?
Yes. Our projects include locally made furniture, locally printed fabrics, woven baskets and artwork. Selections are developed around the character, intended use and budget of the interior.
Who handles orders, payments and delivery?
We place orders for the items you approve. We agree payment arrangements and the delivery support needed with you before purchases are made.
How are the costs agreed?
We first define the scope and prepare a financial proposal. The scheme and project budget are presented for approval before implementation. Discuss the design fee, purchasing arrangements and site involvement with us so it is clear what your appointment includes.
How long will the project take?
The programme is developed once the scope is understood. A room refresh, a bespoke piece and a complete interior involve different work. Mention any intended move-in or opening date early, so the design, sourcing and site stages can be considered together.
