Bathroom interior and fittings — The Bishops House

Interior refurbishment

This service is where we help you renovate an existing interior. That could mean updating your kitchen or bathroom, replacing flooring, improving lighting or changing the layout so the space works better for you.

What would you like to change?

Perhaps there’s a room that doesn’t work well for you, a kitchen or bathroom that needs updating, or an interior that feels tired. You might already know what you want to change, or need help working out what would make a difference.

The layout isn’t working for you.

Perhaps a room feels cramped, there is too little storage, or moving between spaces is awkward. We look at how you use the interior and develop a layout that addresses those problems. That can also mean adapting an existing room for a different use.

Your kitchen needs updating.

You might need more useful storage, more worktop space or a better arrangement for preparing meals. We look at how your kitchen works and design changes to its layout, storage, surfaces and lighting.

Your bathroom needs updating.

The fittings may be worn, storage may be limited, or the arrangement may feel awkward. We consider the layout, basin, shower or bath, storage, tiles and lighting together when designing the renovation.

The floors and walls feel worn or dated.

The layout may already work for you. Changing the flooring, tiles, wall finishes or colours can update the room without rearranging it. We develop those changes together so you can understand how the surfaces will work with one another.

The lighting isn’t working for the room.

Some areas may feel too dark, while others are harsh or uncomfortable. We look at where you need light and what you use each part of the room for, then plan the lighting around those activities.

Start with the space you have.

Tell us which rooms you want to change and what isn’t working for you. We look at the existing interior with you and develop proposals for the changes, so you can review what is planned before work begins.

Discuss your refurbishment

Before we begin.

Ask about your project
Does a refurbishment have to cover the whole property?

No. Our refurbishment work includes individual living and dining rooms as well as entire properties. Tell us which spaces need attention and what you want to achieve. The extent of our involvement is agreed for that brief.

Does everything in the room need to change?

No. Some parts of the existing interior may already work well. Tell us which features you want to retain, so we can consider them when developing the proposed changes.

Can the space stay in use during the work?

That depends on the changes involved and the practical constraints of the property. Let us know which areas need to remain in use. Access, the order of work and any temporary arrangements need to be discussed with the project team before a programme is agreed.

What will I review before work begins?

You review the proposed changes to your interior, with the plans and samples needed to explain them. The design and project budget are presented for your approval before implementation.

How are the costs agreed?

We first define which rooms and changes are involved, then prepare a financial proposal. We discuss the design fee and the extent of our involvement with you. The design and project budget are approved before implementation.

How long will the refurbishment take?

That depends on the rooms involved and the extent of the changes. We discuss the programme once the scope is understood. Tell us about any intended move-in or reopening date, and whether parts of the property need to remain in use.
